05/03/2010 - Cambridge, MA (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - The Chicago Red Stars claimed their first win of the season on Saturday at Harvard Stadium as Casey Nogueira and Cristiane scored second-half goals in a 2-0 win over the Boston Breakers.
Following a scoreless first half, Nogueira tallied her second goal of the season to put the Red Stars in front as she got on the other end of a Karen Carney cross to give Chicago the lead in the 64th minute.
Six minutes later, Cristiane doubled the lead with her first goal of the campaign as she benefited from some good work in the build up by Megan Rapinoe to put the result out of reach with 20 minutes to play.
Chicago had taken just one point from its first three games prior to Saturday's contest, and head coach Emma Hayes knows how much the team needed the win.
"I think for the team, they really needed the result tonight," Hayes told the league's official website. "It was a great team performance all around, and the result was fully deserved."
"If we put balls away in the other games we'd be at the top of the league right now. We're performing really well and we got what we deserved."
The Philadelphia Independence is the only unbeaten team in WPS after they downed the Atlanta Beat, 1-0, with Lori Lindsey scoring the lone goal in the 26th minute, while fellow expansion side Atlanta is the only winless team in the league, and they go for their first win next weekend against Sky Blue FC.
Sky Blue had won two of its first three games to start the year but they dropped a 1-0 decision to FC Gold Pride on Saturday as Christine Sinclair continued her strong start to the season with the only goal of the match late in the first half.
Sinclair has now scored three goals in three games and is tied for the league lead with Eniola Aluko of Saint Louis Athletica.
Aluko scored her third goal of the season on Saturday as well, but her team suffered a 3-1 defeat against the Washington Freedom.

MySportsbook.com Posts Heisman Trophy Odds
With 3,919 passing yards, 32 touchdowns and a mere seven interceptions last season, combined with a powerful South Bend Heisman legacy, odds makers at MySportsbook.com have given Notre Dame senior quarterback Brady Quinn the best Heisman Trophy odds at 5-2.
Quinn isn’t the only big man on campus this season. Oklahoma junior running back and 2004 Heisman runner-up Adrian Peterson, listed at 7-2, rushed for a combined 3,033 yards in his first two years as a college player and will give Quinn a run for his money.
This online sportsbook has also listed Troy Smith, Ohio State senior quarterback, as another strong favorite to win the 72nd Heisman Trophy. A 7-1 bet, Smith threw for 2,282 yards last season and also led the Buckeyes to a convincing 34-20 victory over Quinn and the Fighting Irish in last season’s Fiesta Bowl.
Current betting odds Heisman trophy are:
